50 Mile Ultramarathon

Update: Thanks for all the donations and support. I completed the 50 mile run in a time of 9hrs 6mins… Pure pain!!

On Sat 6th March I plan to run a 50 mile ultramarathon in order to raise cash for an orphanage appeal in Haiti.

kids in a tent

Phil Khorassandjian (a friend of a family friend) is currently working out in Port-au-Prince Haiti trying to restore ‘The House Of Hope’ orphanage. It was destroyed by the massive earthquake in Jan killing 6 children. The kids are living in appalling conditions, they now sleep in tents – as they are too frightened to sleep indoors.

- 100% of funds raised from this run will be sent directly to Phil in order to spend on the childrens food, clothing, medical care, education, rehabilitation and housing.

For more information please visit this web page which I have helped setup for this appeal: http://www.restorethehouseofhopehaiti.co.uk

Training & Route

I’ve recently completed a 30 miler to see whether the body is capable of tackling 50 miles of punishment. Apart from a few of blisters and some seriously tired legs, it seems all systems are go.

So, on Sat 6th I plan to head out at 7ish, run over to Richmond Park and complete 7 laps.

The Route

Starting from home, I will run over to Richmond Park and enter from the Robin Hood entrance:

View route to Park
Distance: 3.3 miles

I will then complete 7 loops of the park:

View Richmond Park loop
Distance: 7.2 miles (x7)

Total Distance: 53.7 miles

The Run

I’m guessing it will take 8-10 hours depending upon weather, feet, legs, my mental state – So if you’re in the area and fancy offering your support (or constructive abusive!), throwing some food/drink in my direction, I would be most grateful. Each lap of the park is just over 7 miles, so if all goes to plan I’ll be lapping every hour or so…. well, maybe not towards the end!

Join Me

For those who fancy putting on theirs runners and joining me for 10k, half marathon, or whatever you can handle… you’re more than welcome to tag along. (just don’t moan if I can’t keep up!)

Thank You!

the kids

Anyways, thanks in advance for your support!

It’s for a great cause, so if you can offer any kind of contribution it would really help the The House of Hope kids.

Thanks and take it easy.
